The ISO1176T is a 40Mbps, half-duplex, isolated RS-485 and RS-422 transceiver with integrated transformer driver

The ISO1176T is an AN5273 isolated differential line transceiver with an integrated oscillator output that supplies the primary voltage to the isolation transformer. The device is ideal for long transmission lines because the ground loop is broken, allowing the device to operate over a wider range of common-mode voltages.

The symmetrical isolation barrier of each device is tested to provide 4242V PK of isolation for 60 seconds per VDE between the line transceiver and the logic level interface.

A Galvanically Isolated Differential Bus Transceiver is an integrated circuit designed for bidirectional data communication on multipoint bus transmission lines. The transceiver combines galvanically isolated differential line drivers and differential input line receivers. The driver has an active high enable with an isolated enable status output on the ISODE pin (pin 10) to facilitate directional control. The driver differential output and receiver differential input are internally connected to form a differential input/output (I/O) bus port designed to provide minimal loading to the bus when the driver is disabled or V CC2 = 0.

Any wired I/O can be affected by electrical noise transients from various sources. If these noise transients are of sufficient magnitude and duration, they can damage the transceiver and/or nearby sensitive circuitry. The ISO1176T can significantly reduce the risk of data corruption and damage to expensive control circuits.

The device is characterized for operation over an ambient temperature range of –40°C to 85°C.
